CBT-i Program: CBT Strategies for Insomnia
The Mind Body Well Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i) Program provides education, skills, and strategies to assist people to improve the quality of their sleep.
What is CBT-i?
CBT for Insomnia (CBT-i) is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps people understand and shift the thoughts, habits, and behaviours keeping sleep difficulties going.
It’s an active program which equips people with practical tools and strategies they can use for life, building confidence and a sense of control around sleep.
CBT-i is widely recognised as one of the most effective treatments for chronic insomnia, with lasting results for many people.
Facilitator
Genevieve (Gen) Fletcher – Provisional Psychologist at Mind Body Well.
Gen is a warm and confident presenter, who has experience providing individual therapy and running educational programs in mental health settings.
Gen is also as a University Lecturer in Psychology with experience communicating about mental health concepts.
Gen is a Level 1 CBT-i Practitioner with the Australasian Sleep Association.
Who this program is for
This 5 session CBT-i program is for people experiencing ongoing difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or who are waking feeling unrefreshed, even when there’s enough opportunity for sleep. It suits people who have tried the basics (sleep hygiene tips, quick fixes) without lasting success, and who are looking for a structured, skills-based approach, rather than relying on medication.
The program is well suited to people wanting to better understand the link between their thoughts, habits, and sleep patterns, helping to build confidence in their ability to sleep.
The CBT-i program will be conducted live online, so it requires access to a computer device suitable for watching and participating in the live sessions, and a safe and private space to participate in the group sessions. CBT-i is an active and self-reflective program, which requires time, practice and commitment, and there will be some between-session ‘homework’ for people to complete. Attendance at all 5 sessions is recommended to achieve the benefits of the program.
