Finding Calm: Managing Stress and Difficult Emotions
The Mind Body Well Collective series provides educational and therapeutic programs at NO COST to existing clients of our service, and LOW COST for the wider community.
The first program in our series will focus on skills and strategies to understand and manage stress, and respond to our own challenging emotions.
Program outline
SESSION 1 – will focus on the way our mind and body respond to stress, and how our nervous system works to protect us from situations we perceive as threatening.
SESSION 2 – explores personal stress responses, and the way these patterns are learned and developed over time (and can therefore be unlearned / changed).
SESSION 3 – focuses on practical strategies to manage stress and enhance emotional coping, including distress tolerance and breathing practices which can help us find calm.
Facilitator
Genevieve (Gen) Fletcher – Provisional Psychologist at Mind Body Well.
Gen is a warm and confident presenter, who has experience providing individual therapy and running educational programs in mental health settings.
Gen is also as a University Lecturer in Psychology with experience communicating about mental health concepts.
Program dates and times
Conducted live online over three consecutive Tuesday evenings, from 6-7pm:
- Session 1 – Tuesday 16th June, 2026
- Session 2 – Tuesday 23rd June, 2026
- Session 3 – Tuesday 30th June, 2026
Who this program is for
Anyone who would like to develop strategies to manage stress and enhance emotional coping.
The program will be conducted live online, so it requires access to a computer device suitable for watching and participating in the live sessions, and a safe and private space to particulate in the group sessions.
The sessions will be educational, and designed to supplement rather than replace individual therapy.
Program cost
Current clients – NO COST (including people currently on our waiting list)
Non clients – $75 (total for all three sessions in the program)
Registration includes participation in the live online sessions (which will not be recorded), and session handouts.
