Low Cost Provisional Psychology Clinic
Provisional Psychologist Services at Mind Body Well
Mind Body Well offers a Low-Cost Provisional Psychology Clinic, providing access to quality psychological care for people who may find standard private fees a barrier to seeking treatment.
This service provides professional, supportive therapy at a reduced cost, while maintaining the same clinical standards which guide all therapies at Mind Body Well.
What is a Provisional Psychologist?
Provisional Psychologists are:
Fully trained in evidence-based assessment and therapeutic skills
Registered with AHPRA as a Provisional Psychologist
Closely supervised by an experienced, fully registered Senior Psychologist
Required to meet strict professional, ethical, and confidentiality standards
Fees and Rebates
Low-cost session fee
$130 per session
Medicare rebates
Not available for Provisional Psychologist services.
The lower fees ensure that the charges to clients are below the out of pocket costs which would be incurred for full fee services minus a Medicare rebate.
Private health rebates
May be available depending on your health fund (please check directly with your fund).
Who Is This Service Suitable For?
Some circumstances in which our Low-Cost Provisional Psychology Clinic may be suitable include for clients who:
Are seeking more affordable access to psychological support
Feel comfortable working with a therapist who is completing their training
Are on waiting lists for fully registered Psychologists and want to begin therapy sooner
Want support for concerns such as low mood, anxiety, body image, self-esteem, stress, or life transitions
Have used all available Medicare rebates and require ongoing support but are struggling with out-of-pocket costs
If your presentation is more complex or requires the care of a more experienced therapist, we will assist you to access alternative therapists.
The services of Provisional Psychologists are not suitable for:
People with complex mental health conditions, including those with a diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa
Those who have high risk medical or mental health needs
People wanting to claim Medicare rebates (note, the fee for this service is lower than the out of pocket 'gap' fee would be where a Medicare rebate is available)
