Dr Mel Delanoy
Registered Clinical Psychologist
Dr Mel Delanoy has been a Registered Clinical Psychologist for more than 20 years. Her genuine desire to connect with others led her to persue an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she graduated with honours. Mel continued her education and received a Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Behavioural Medicine.
Mel particularly enjoys working with children, adolescents and families dealing with a variety of clinical issues using a traditional Cognitive Behavioural approach. She is committed to helping others by challenging unhelpful thinking patterns in order to alter thoughts and behaviours.
Mel has had extensive experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She worked in the Psychiatry division of the Children's Hospital and Health Centre in San Diego, California before her post-doctoral studies at UCLA. She remained on staff at UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute for more than 10 years, and has specific training in the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. The UCLA Eating Disorders Program at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital is recognised internationally as an outstanding centre of excellence. In addition to her clinical work Mel has been dedicated to research, particularly with regards to possible genetic predispositions to the development of an Eating Disorder.
Mel is also certified in Family-Based Treatment for adolescents with Eating Disorders (FBT), which is often considered the primary model of early intervention treatment for adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa.
